Kura

Kura is a Japanese Restaurant that is located opposite market city. The address is 3/76 Ultimo Rd, Haymarket NSW 2000 and is open from 10:30am to 11:30pm. It is a place that is best suited for casual dining. There are 2 floors.

The menu consists of a range of different Japanese foods from bentos, to udon (noodles) and donburi (rice dishes). There is even the option to half and half the udon and donburi, allowing the customer to have the best of both worlds albeit in smaller portions.

I ordered the half and half consisting of the Karage Don and Katsu Udon. Karage is Japanese deep fried chicken and Katsu is a breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet. A small bowl of salad accompanied the dish. Whilst the Katsu udon and Karage was good, I felt that the rice in the Don was a bit hard to eat with the lack of sauce. Karage traditionally comes with Mayonnaise however it did not mix well with plain rice.

The service however, was amazing as I felt both welcomed and satisfied. No matter who it was that brought us food, it was brought with enthusiasm and with a smile which is important when wanting to leave a good impression. Furthermore, not only was the service friendly, the food was also served promptly. I would rate the place 9/10 with the only complaint being that it was quite a difficult place to find as the entrance was quite small and on a corner.
